Mike is committed to environmental education and the careful stewardship of our natural environment. The aspect of Tin Mountain that drew Mike to the organization was the sustained contact that it has with its students in the region's schools and the high quality of all other programs.
Mike is a forest biologist by training, but he has worked in a very diverse array of settings from a research scientist for a major paper company to research and policy analysis for the Maine Audubon Society. He has also been a natural resource/forestry consultant and taught numerous forestry and biology college courses.
His special interests in natural science include mycorrhizal fungi, tree physiology, and forest biodiversity.
Mike holds a B.S. Biology from Bowling Green State University and a M.S and Ph.D. in Forest Biology from Colorado State University.
